2010 Canadian Open

Where: Taiwanese Cultural Center, Vancouver BC.

Organizers: Ken Chou and Cathy Li. Cathy can be reached by email at cathyli11802@hotmail.com.
Schedule: The main tournament will be on September 4th & 5th. Trip playoffs and Pair Go will be on the 6th. Note the 2010 Pair selection had to be made early this year, but the pair results at the Canadian Open will matter for 2011 pair selection.
Fees: The planned entry fee is 40$ for adults, 25$ for youth 18 and under. For registration after September 1st add 10$. Pair Go is included in the general entry fee. Canadian residents will need to be a CGA member to particpate in the event. American players need to join the AGA, or get CGA membership. For players travelling from outside the US and Canada no association membership is required.
Prizes: There will be cash prizes in the top division of 800$ for first place, 400$ for second place, and 200$ for third place. There are also the trip prizes (World Amateur, Prime Minsters cup) chosen at the Canadian open on the basis of International Selection points.

Accomodation:
A friend of Cathy's runs a family inn called SeaSkyPai. Cathy's friend will also be volunteering for the open. To Go players attending the tournament she will offer an average rate of 30 CAD per nght(rooms vary), and 5 CAD for an extra bed. She can accommodate 17-20 Go players. Rides will be provided to and from the tournament in the morning and evening. If you are planning to stay at SeaSkyPai Cathy should know this by August 25th.

Banquet: There will be a Saturday night banquet, at an expected cost of 30$. Cathy will want to know the
names of attendees, check back here shortly for details on how to register.
Lunch time meals You may order a box lunch for 6$. Cathy would like to know by August 28th who would like the box lunch, please email here to order it. There are
some restaurants within 2-3 blocks of the open, but ordering the box lunch may be more convenient. The choices are:
- Stir fried chicken with three spices plus two vegetables and rice
- Braised port with red onion plus two vegetables and rice
- Deep fried chicken plus two vegetables and rice
- Vegetarian box lunch
Attending professional: As of August 23rd, the plan for Korean professionals to attend seems to be back on. Check back here shortly for their names.
