Participant Instructions:

Round 6 pairings are now posted Please look at the pairings and email your opponents to arrange game times. You should have your games scheduled by February 8th. If your emails are not responded to within a couple days please phone. If you haven't heard back within the week please let me know. If you have notified me early and fail to have your game scheduled you will be assigned a BYE. If you contact me at the end of the round and are unable to schedule your game you will both be assigned defaults.

Once you game is scheduled email me the game date and time (to wintercup@go-canada.org), and I will post it on the web site. When your game is complete email me the result (I will also post any SGF files I am given).

Have fun, and please be patient with any issues we experience running the event. This Winter cup is significantly larger than any we have held before.

Current Standings:

In the Open division the only tiebreak is Wins/Losses. For the ING/Masters spots play-offs will be held at the end between tied players. SODOS and SOS are posted for interest only (and I may use them as one factor when pairing).

In the handicap divisions rank is used as tiebreak for players with the same number of wins. However, prizes will be awarded to all players who score 5 wins, and all division winners with at least 4 wins. If the division lead is tied between players with 4 wins then playoffs will be held.

What is it:

The CGA organizes an online tournament each year. It is played on KGS in the Canadian Room, and runs 6 rounds (possibly with subsequent tie break games). Two rounds are played every three weeks, so the tournament will wind up around end March. You are emailed your pairings, and are responsible for contacting them and arranging a game time. The only requirement to participate is to join the CGA (15$/1year, 25$/2year). If you cannot play a given round or rounds just notify the TD and you will be given a bye.

Tournament conditions:

Time:
45 minutes basic time, with 10 minutes per 25 stones Canadian byo-yomi
Komi: 6.5 for even games
Note: A handicap of 1 means 0.5 komi for white
Handicaps will be used as needed in the lower divisions (rank difference -1).

Participants and their contact info (63 players)

* The player doesn't want this contact info revealed publicly, it will be emailed to their opponents as needed.
