CGA News September 9th, 2009
Canadian Open Report
The 2009 Canadian Open was a resounding success. It featured the largest field for the main tournament to date with 112 participants, the toughest top division with 29 6D+ players in the top division, and the largest CGA Pair Go tournament to date with 14 pairs. The visiting contigent from the USA of 11 players included 4 AGA 7D's, the strongest visiting contigent from the USA we've ever had. Zhaonian(Michael) Cheng from the USA was the winner, you can see a measure of the field strength in that Andy Liu the 2009 ING/Masters Champion could only manage 6th with a 4-2 score. Here is the tournament report listing the division winners, and the full tournament result grid.
