Canadian League of Internet Team Go The teams are made up of 3 (min) to 5 (max) players. One of the players is named captain of the team. The team should be identify to a city and come up with a team named so as to create a strong team identity… something like the Montreal's Crosscutters or the Toronto's Monkeyjumpers . If they want to come up with a logo it's even better. Team members must be members of the CGA. A match between two 2 team consist of 3 different games played simultaneously. The team that wins 2 out of the 3 games wins the match. The captains of each team decide secretly which player will be assigned to which game. The reason the team can have more than 3 players is to leave room for vacations and other life activities, but only 3 players play on any given match. The games are even (or handicap, or handicap -1) games consisting of 30 (or 45) min main time and 1 Byo-yomi period of 20 (or 30) sec. Basically see this as absolute timing with a safety to avoid silly time tactics at the end. The reason for the fast timing is to produce games that are fun to watch live. Games are rated CGA games. During the regular season, each team plays a match every week. The games are played in the Canadian room on KGS. Initially I was thinking of spreading out the games over the week, but I realised that fixing the same day and time for every games would make it easier on the players to integrate in their weekly schedule. Monday 21h00 east time seems like a good time. After the regular season, the top X team moves to the playoff which consist of multiple matches (I would like 4 out of 7 to keep the hockey reference but it will depend on the number of team and the timing). I would like to have a website for the league detailing the matches with live up to date stats about the teams and players (click on a player, see his picture / stats,... ). I will also have an official commentary section and stuff like move of the week and other goodies so that the sites look alive. To recruit the initial teams I will start by a message to all CGA members and club. Once we can get the official website off, I will have a period of 1 month for the team to register and I will then post the schedule. |
